We normally assume you will be coming by car and here are some directions in case it helps (If you use Sat Nav the postcode is BA22 7EF – which should bring you close):
Travelling west (from London) on A303

Past Wincanton – stay on A303 – after approx 4 miles turn left (sharp exit) signed Blackford & Charlton Horethorne.

After just 50 yards take left signed Blackford & Charlton Horethorne through tree lined cutting (Blackford Hollow).

At bottom of hollow take immediate right up a No Through Road.

Kingfisher Cottage approx 50 yards – 2nd on left.
Travelling east (from Exeter) on A303

Past Sparkford – stay on A303 – after approx 4 miles turn left signed Blackford & Holton.

After just 50 yards take right under the A303 and then right again signed Blackford

After approx 1 mile give way to traffic from A303 then take left signed Blackford & Charlton Horethorne through tree lined cutting (Blackford Hollow).

At bottom of hollow take immediate right up a No Through Road.

Travelling north (from Sherborne)

Up Bristol Rd (towards Wincanton) Via Charlton Horethorne

Centre of Charlton Horethorne turn left at Kings Arms signed Blackford

2 miles… centre of Blackford…. Crossroads.. church & tel box on right…stay on same road… another 50yds turn left up a no through road

Travelling South (e.g. via Bristol) on M5
SatNav may suggest travelling via Bristol & the A37. However we would suggest staying on the M5 & avoid travelling through or round Bristol unless it is quiet.
- Exit at Jt23 (signed Bridgwater) take A39 towards Street/Glastonbury
- Follow signs & turn for Somerton & Yeovil picking up the B3151 and then A372 to join the A303 at Podimore roundabout
- Take A303 direction London
- Past Sparkford – stay on A303 – after approx 4 miles turn left signed Blackford & Holton.
- After just 50 yards take right under the A303 and then right again signed Blackford
- After approx 1 mile give way to traffic from A303 then take left signed Blackford & Charlton Horethorne through tree lined cutting (Blackford Hollow).
- At bottom of hollow take immediate right up a No Through Road.
- Kingfisher Cottage approx 50 yards – 2nd on left.
Travelling South (from Bristol) on A37 - Take A37 past Shepton Mallet
- Just south of Shepton Mallet take A371 signed Castle Cary
- At Castle Cary stay on A371 - direction Wincanton
- Near Wincanton stay on A371 and at roundabout take exit for A357 signed Templecombe which will immediately take you under the A303
- After just 100m take right at Anchor Hill Shell garage – signed Holton
- You will be travelling west on the old A303
- One mile ..through Holton
- Two miles … on same road
- Stop at junction where traffic leaves A303
- Keep left & follow signs for Blackford
- After just 50 yards take left signed Blackford & Charlton Horethorne through tree lined cutting (Blackford Hollow).
- At bottom of hollow take immediate right up a No Through Road.
- Kingfisher Cottage approx 50 yards – 2nd on left.
